Childhood Cancer Awareness

The top cancers diagnosed in Malaysia in children below age of 14 years are:

  • Leukaemia
  • Central nervous system (CNS) tumours
Child diagnosed by Paediatrician

Some symptoms of childhood leukemia may include:

  • Unexplained and prolonged fever
  • Pallor
  • Easy bruising and bleeding
  • Bone or joint pain
  • Swelling of the abdomen (belly)
  • Loss of appetite and weight loss
  • Swollen lymph nodes

Some symptoms can have other causes as well, and most often these symptoms are not caused by leukemia.

Still, if your child has any of them, it’s important to have your child seen by a paediatrician.

Treatment for Childhood Leukaemia may include:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Radiotherapy
