SELANGOR, December 19, 2022 – Tis the season of giving and the folks from Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) did just that recently with a team of doctors, nurses and staff volunteers paying a visit to Rumah Hope to bring festive cheer and provide free health checks for the home’s 30 over underprivileged children.

SJMC Chief Executive Officer Bryan Lin said, "As a trusted healthcare provider for families, the health of every child is close to our hearts, including those who may not always have easy access to healthcare. Our community effort this time gives us an opportunity to not only ensure that the children in this home are well but also spread this festive joy with a partner who shares the same passion for children."

Children were given health checks by SJMC

With the intention to give the children a healthy start to the new year, SJMC provided a physical check of their height & weight, and eye checks which included a refraction assessment, color vision test, and fundus photography.

The highlight of SJMC’s visit was a special magic show and the appearance of the cuddly hospital mascot, Teddy Paws who delighted the children with their antics. As a scrumptious ending to the day, the children and their caretakers were treated to a Christmas buffet.

The children from Rumah Hope received little goodie bags as a sweet end to the year

SJMC’s visit to Rumah Hope was in collaboration with Zeneration, whose founder Andrew Liao happened to be a former patient of SJMC. "We believe in nurturing children’s well-being to ensure a better future. We would like to thank SJMC for the opportunity to collaborate and bring cheer to the children of Rumah Hope with a Christmas-themed party. It was a meaningful event filled with so much love, joy, and happiness."

Amy D'cruz, Principal of Rumah Hope said, “We find it very timely for our children to have a yearly health check and eye checkup, and SJMC made it happen for us. We are very grateful for all the care and support provided for our children. The children really enjoyed the entertainment as well as the dinner tonight.”

Rumah Hope also received goodie bags which included stationary sets, art & craft kits, woven bags, organiser pouches and sanitizers.
