Subang Jaya Medical Centre Launches Chiropractor Affiliate Programme

The Chiropractor Affiliate Programme aims to strengthen patients’ confidence, knowing that they are in good hands with a reputable institution like SJMC working alongside their trusted chiropractor.

In a move to forge a closer partnership with chiropractors and provide patients with seamless musculoskeletal care from primary to tertiary care, Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) has launched its Chiropractor Affiliate Programme, which extends the hospital’s comprehensive health care services to a wider community.

Chiropractic care has offered relief from back pain and joint stiffness through techniques such as spinal adjustment and/or joint and soft tissue manipulation that address musculoskeletal issues, complementing mainstream medical treatments to provide comprehensive care to patients.

“SJMC produces one of the highest standards in imaging quality, and is best known for our clinical outcomes. This highly technical discipline has significantly improved the quality of life for countless patients, and we are pleased to forge this collaboration with chiropractors to enhance seamless patient experiences and comprehensive assessments,” said Bryan Lin, SJMC chief executive officer.

This programme facilitates bridging the gap between chiropractic care and institutional hospital settings. The goal is to strengthen patients’ confidence, knowing they are in good hands with a reputable institution like SJMC working alongside their trusted chiropractor.

Patients can expect a seamless, coordinated experience, ensuring a smooth transition for further assessment and improved outcomes. This means streamlined appointments, clear communication channels, and a cohesive and personalised approach to their care.

Through this collaborative effort, chiropractors can work with experts from SJMC’s multidisciplinary team, be exposed to the latest treatment updates, enhance their skills, and ultimately benefit patient care.

The hospital’s radiology department encompasses highly effective approaches to diagnose and manage musculoskeletal problems, including x-ray, computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, and ultrasound.

“We are thrilled to attend the launch of SJMC’s new Chiropractor Affiliate Programme, marking an important partnership between SJMC and the chiropractic community. This collaboration is set to reinforce our long-standing commitment to improving the quality of chiropractic care.

“Together, we are dedicated to enhancing patient care and promoting professional growth,” said Wong Yi Kai, president of the Association of Chiropractic Malaysia.

The Association of Chiropractic Malaysia has played a significant role in the development and promotion of chiropractic care in the country and has partnered with both government and non-government organisations to raise awareness about chiropractic care in Malaysia.

During the launch, SJMC Medical Officer Dr Rovisna Jasal gave a talk on “Bone Health Essentials: Understanding Osteoporosis and Bone Marrow Density”.

She highlighted that osteoporosis, a condition marked by weakened bones and increased fracture risk, is a major concern and understanding bone mineral density is key to assessing osteoporosis risk.

By prioritising bone health through diet, exercise, and sometimes medication, we can prevent osteoporosis and maintain strong bones for a lifetime.

SJMC’s comprehensive musculoskeletal services have received international recognition from established health care authorities. The hospital’s multiple specialties, including orthopaedics, were named among the Best Specialized Hospitals APAC 2023 by Newsweek. Additionally, SJMC received the GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Awards’ Orthopaedic Service Provider of the Year in Asia Pacific for 2022.
