39 Years of Trusted Care: SJMC Embraces Growth and Giving Back
Celebrating its 39th anniversary, SJMC has established itself as a leading healthcare provider, renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and making a positive impact on the community.
Its unwavering commitment to medical excellence and social and environmental responsibility has won the hospital numerous accolades including the recent Community Health Outreach Programme Award – Malaysia at the ESG Business Awards 2024 and Community Initiative Award at the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards (ACES) Awards 2024.
Championing preventive care for the community, SJMC donated Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices and glucometers to underprivileged diabetics during its SJMC Run 2024 through Action4Diabetes, a non-governmental organisation.
Trailblazer of Many Firsts
Reflecting on its journey thus far, SJMC has come a long way, overcoming challenges and embracing opportunities. From its humble beginnings in 1985 to an award-winning, multi-accredited tertiary hospital today, SJMC has consistently strived to deliver excellence and innovation.
A trailblazer in many first medical milestones in private healthcare including performing Malaysia’s first open heart surgery, stem cell and paediatric liver transplants, adult and paediatric bone marrow transplants, and brain neurosurgery, SJMC continues to revolutionise medical boundaries.
It was the first private hospital in Malaysia to offer total knee replacement surgery as a daycare service and first to introduce Connected Care, a revolutionary remote patient care ecosystem that brings healthcare services directly to patients’ homes. The hospital also became the first private hospital in Southeast Asia to offer the Express Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for solid tumour and liquid biopsy.
“SJMC has always held a firm belief in people and community, both in achieving good clinical outcomes and contributing to the larger good of healthcare sustainability. Driven by an unwavering commitment to social responsibility, our impactful social impact projects are targeted at local communities, underserved rural areas, and ensuring a healthier future for generations to come. This aligns to Sustainable Development Goal #3 on Good Health and Well-Being,” said Bryan Lin, SJMC Chief Executive Officer.
