Our Emergency Department operates 24/7, delivering fast, comprehensive care for all urgent medical and surgical emergencies. Led by a Consultant Emergency Medicine Physician, our team of experienced doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals is committed to providing patient-centered care with speed, precision, and compassion.

It is an emergency if you experience:
- Stroke or sudden body weakness
- Breathing difficulties
- Fainting or loss of consciousness
- Paediatric or neonatal distress
- Vomiting blood
- Passing blackish stool
- Severe bleeding
- Fit and/or epileptic seizure
- Seizures
- Road accidents
- Broken or displaced bones
- Fractures, bone dislocation or severe sprain
- Stomach pain
- Severe back pain
What Happens at the Emergency Department?
- Once you're at the A&E, please register at reception. A doctor or nurse will assess your condition and decide on further action — this is called triage.
- You may be triaged to one of the three zones, depending on the severity of your case.
- Within these zones, we are able to access all other hospital departments to offer medical and surgical assessments, as well as urgent treatments.
- There is an operational standard in place for emergency services, where the majority of people attending any Emergency Department should be seen, diagnosed, and treated within a set timeframe upon arrival.
