With over 4 billion people, the Asia-Pacific region faces a growing demand on healthcare systems, especially as the proportion of individuals over 60 is projected to surpass a quarter of the population by 2050. The region has emerged as the global leader in healthcare investment, with a significant focus on specialised care.
Considering this, SJMC offers a comprehensive range of specialised services, ensuring patients have access to the highest level of expertise for their specific needs. Best known for its clinical outcomes, the multi-disciplinary tertiary hospital believes in a holistic and person-centred approach to their patients.
Since its inception in 1985, SJMC has become a trusted tertiary hospital in the country with a leading cancer centre in the region certified by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI). The hospital has made significant achievements as a trailblazer in many first medical milestones – conducting Malaysia’s first open-heart surgery, stem cell and paediatric liver transplants, adult and paediatric bone marrow transplants, and brain neurosurgery, just to name a few. In 2021, it continues to revolutionise medical boundaries by performing the country’s first total knee replacement daycare surgery.
Earlier this year, SJMC was ranked third in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2024 – Malaysia. Newsweek and Statista invited more than 8,000 medical experts – including doctors, hospital managers and other health care professionals – to participate in online surveys that allowed them to recommend and assess various hospitals within their respective specialisations.
The Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2024 ranking evaluated more than 3,000 hospitals and honours the very best hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region that specialise in multiple specialities. The award recognises the best hospitals across 9 countries: Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Recognised as a flagship medical tourism hospital by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and fully endorsed by the Malaysian Ministry of Health, SJMC plays an active role in stamping Malaysia as a globally renowned icon for healthcare travel.
